The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of the Theta Xi Fraternity has been giving to the Lincoln community since its establishment in 1927. Our chapter is proud to actively support both of our National charities, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Habitat for Humanity. In addition, we are proud to participate in local events such as Campbell Elementary School's carnival and UNL's Big Event.
On February 16th, the Men of Theta Xi worked with Lincoln-Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity to construct low-cost housing for members of our community. We will be helping in the construction of a home, landscaping, and any other activities that facilitate the efforts of Habitat for Humanity. For more information, visit Habitat for Humanity.
Together Phi Mu Sorority and Theta Xi Fraternity helped support the Children's Miracle Network at Pizza Palooza 2008 on March 6th at the Phi Mu House. At this event, anyone and everyone is invited to come and enjoy pizza and root beer floats. Children's Miracle Network is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals nationwide. All the proceeds from the event go directly to the CMN Hospital in Omaha.
The University of Nebraska's Big Event is a one-day service project involving more than 1,500 students, faculty, and staff. The members of Theta Xi work together in teams around Lincoln doing various tasks including yard work, painting, donation sorting, and meal preparation. We are proud to participate in this project and help so many citizens in the local community. The 2008 Big Event was on April 12th, and the men of Theta Xi worked at the Lincoln Children's Zoo in preparation for their Spring Season.
Our chapter participated in the Nebraska Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk on Saturday April 19th. We raised over $500 for the local Nebraska Chapter. For more information visit the Nebraska Chapter Website.
Every Spring, the members of Theta Xi volunteer more than 150 man hours at the Campbell Elementary School's annual carnival. Our members play a pivotal role in the continued success of the carnival by helping in the planning, coordinating the games and activities, and seeking donations. All profits from the event go toward the school's PTA.
