A Fraternity is not merely a collection of men living together; it is an organization that leaves its mark on every member that passes through its doors. At Theta Xi we believe that a member should leave his mark on the Fraternity as well. Our men leave college with more than just a degree and a great set of friends; they leave with the knowledge that they have changed not only their lives and the lives of the men around them, but the lives of the men that will follow them for years to come.
We have a rich tradition at the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Theta Xi; we have been on campus since 1927 and in our current house since 1950. Our house serves as the center of our social life, providing a common meeting place for our live-ins and live-outs alike. For those living in the house, it is an inexpensive and much more comfortable alternative to the dorms. The house is completely alcohol-free, which helps us maintain a healthy and clean environment for living. At Theta Xi, everyone shares the work of keeping our house clean, not just our Associate members.
We treat everyone in our house with the same respect, Associate members and Actives alike. In fact the only difference between an Associate and an Active is the right to attend Ritual meetings and the right to vote. Hazing in any form is strictly prohibited and heavily punished. We feel that degrading an Associate does not prepare him in any way for brotherhood, but rather only serves to separate him from his future brothers.
We also emphasize scholarship in our members with group study times, big brother/little brother study sessions, and scholastic achievement goals and awards.
While commitment and service to the fraternity are important, we also relax and enjoy ourselves by playing intramural sports, throwing parties, doing community service together, or just hanging out. We have many social events over each semester to help balance out the load that classes provide, because being a well-rounded gentleman means being comfortable in many different social situations.
